Like promised, I said I would do this whole 'monthly review' thing every month, not just when I felt like it or got bored. I'm already starting to see this idea as quite ambitious, but never-the-less, September is over and a review is here.
September, overall, has been a very busy month. My days of University are finally coming to an end and starting next week, I will only have five more weeks of University left. 🎓
Whilst this is exciting (and really freaking scary), there's quite a
Oh and then there is the gay marriage plebiscite. I can only begin to imagine how the LGBTQI+ community must be feeling about this, as it upsets me to see our country (a country that boasts about it's diversity, welcoming nature and open-mindedness) come to this. To open my letter box and be issued with a government survey on whether gay marriage should be legalised or not just seemed so impersonal and quite frankly, wrong.
Despite the fact that I could list a million reasons why this postal plebiscite is a waste of money and how it is so emotionally inconsiderate of the LGBTQI+ community, I ticked the 'Yes' box and posted my vote and can only hope others did the same. Love is love and everyone deserves to have the right to share that love with the world. Not everyone wants to get married, that's totally cool, but to have the choice would be nice aye?
* If you have yet voted, I urge you to please #VOTEYES. I don't agree with this plebiscite, but to see a majority 'YES' outcome, would be a step forward than backwards. * 💙💚💛💜💗
You've heard me ramble on.. so now to the

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna
For those that know me well, you would know I have a huge girl crush on Rihanna. I seriously just think she is bomb and when I heard she was bringing out a beauty line, I think my heart stopped for a second.

When a celebrity brings out any type of range, there is a big fear that it's going to miss the mark. However, Rihanna not only hit the target but has wiped out some worthy competition. Especially with 40 👏 different 👏 foundation 👏 shades, that allows for people of all skin tones to have the chance of experiencing the collection. Yay for inclusivity - finally!
I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Killawat Freestyle highlighters in 'Trophy Wife' and 'Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal' and they seriously make you shine like the stars, it's a magical experience that I highly recommend! Buy here.
I was looking through Instagram one day and came across the beautiful work of Sophie Mayanne, who specifically has started this photography initiative aimed at celebrating scars and the remarkable stories behind them.
I ended up scrolling through this Instagram feed for a long time, reading all the stories and being touched by the incredible nature of the people being photographed, as well as the photographer behind them. We are often ashamed or embarrassed by the scars/blemishes/pigmentations (I know I am - I think I've had stretch marks since my early teens) that don't resemble the airbrushed perfection of magazines and models, but this page endorses just that. It's a showcase of all the not-so-perfect but beautiful aspects of the human self and that's truly something special.

I've been binge watching...
The Office (U.S TV Series)Source: Vignette2 |
I'm always the last one to get in on a trend, especially when it comes to TV shows. For the longest time I've had this show on my 'to watch' list and I'm so glad that I finally got around to it this month. All the gifs that float around Facebook & Twitter really don't give this show justice, but they do give a little insight into what to expect.
All I can say is that it's 25 minutes of absolute stupidity, but man oh man is it good. Plus it's a hell of a workout for your abs, due to all the laughing, so I'd say it's a healthy lifestyle choice.
The Bachelorette Australia w/ Sophie Monk
I'll be the first to admit, I am usually not a big fan of The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. I usually love a little bit of reality TV and Geordie Shore is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I could never quite get into this show, until now. I put it down to Sophie Monk.
Yes, she is beautiful. Yes, she is blonde. Yes, she is famous. But she is far from the 'girl next door' type that this show usually endorses. She is actually a bogan potty mouth with a really honest perspective on life and I'm all here for it.
Plus, watching Punkee's recaps of every episode are honestly the best works of editing ever. I'd sit through the Logies just to see them get an award 😜

Flipping Through...
Newcastle Mirage | September, Issue 52
Unfortunately this month I didn't read any books, however, I did flip through a pretty awesome 'zine'.
It was totally unexpected and a bloody amazing feeling when I received a copy in the mail box. Thank you Kian & the gang at Newcastle Mirage for letting this newbie have a crack!
Newcastle Mirage do amazing things every month to encourage the local music scene of Newcastle and give some well deserved recognition to some crazy talented individuals, as well as giving a shout-out to some of the cultural and foodie gems of Newcastle. Please check 'em out, especially if you're a novocastrian gig lover who is always on the look-out for some new tunes.
Okay, so I may be a little bias. I was fortunate enough to speak to the amazing Rachel Maria Cox this month for Newcastle Mirage, which just happened to make the cover story for their September issue. Full story can be found here.

Listening to...
Thankfully I got to discover some great songs this month ('The Man' by The Killers is currently my jam), which will be featured in the playlist below. However, a special shout-out goes to my 'discovery of the month', Maren Morris.
I'm not a big country music fan, so for any Luke Bryan fans out there, I'm sorry. However, if all country music sounded like this, I wouldn't be mad about saying I was. Marren's voice isn't the 'typical' honky tonk type of voice that country music is known for. It's quite mellow, a little raspy and really beautiful. Some of my favourite tracks of hers include, 'I Could Use a Love Song' and 'Space' 💕🙌
